Leading
Edge Attachments, Inc. introduces the new
style Multi-Ripper Tooth for contractors working in rock.
The Multi-Ripper Tooth works
on the same principal as the award winning “SHARC™”
(SHanks on an
ARC)
Multi-Ripper and the standard Multi-Ripper Bucket, except it provides
this function on the tooth tip itself.
The
Multi-Ripper Tooth
utilizes the patent pending
“SHARC” (Shanks on an ARC) Technology, meaning that the tooth
functions
similarly to that of a trencher except it uses the hydraulic excavator
rolling
action to rip. The staggered ripper tooth tips fracture the substrate
in
sequential
order. No two ripper tooth tips align with each other, so that the
maximum
breakout
force is applied sequentially to each tooth point. The rolling of the
Multi-Ripper, Multi-Ripper Bucket, or even a conventional bucket by
extending the bucket cylinder, always provides the full
multiplied breakout
force individually on each tooth tip so that the substrate is ripped
out by
each individual
tooth tip lifting action. The operator does not drag the tool, he
constantly
rolls the tool to achieve the highest breakout forces. The result is
a relatively flat shaped
ripped bottom surface due to the fact that the ripper tooth tips are
positioned
and angled such that the center of rotation is close to the excavator
stick to tool
pivot. Conventional twin tiger teeth have
two points that help to rip rock; however, they are side by side so
that when
they come into contact with rock, the force is shared by the two
points.
The sides of the tooth
are shaped
so that the tooth can easily rip side walls of a trench and the shape
has a
self sharpening design.
The SPRB can be used
on the Leading
Edge Attachments, Inc. Multi-Ripper Products, or it can be used on a
conventional bucket to provide increased ripping focused force.
The tooth is available to
mount readily to the existing Cat “J460” series tooth adapters, MTG
KingMet Systems 30 & 55 size class, and 23 series backhoe adapters.
The
performance of this style tooth exceeds all other
manufacturer designs of rock, or frost, twin tigers or single tiger
teeth available.
The Multi-Ripper Tooth is the
highest quality and most productive ripping
tooth
available on the market for this application,
and has patents pending worldwide.
The model shown is for
a
Caterpillar 330 or 345 size class (65 to 110K lb, J460) excavator.
The advantages of the
Multi-Ripper Tooth are as follows:
- Focuses entire
breakout force on one
point at a time thus increasing ripping force.
- The points lie on an
arc about the
stick pivot so that the ripped bottom stays relatively flat.
- Can be used on
“Multi-Ripper Products”
or conventional buckets to help increase the ripping effect.
- The penetration of a
single tiger with the side wall ripping of a twin!
- Is designed with self
sharpening sides
that also improve side wall ripping.
